A brief history of palmistry

Palmistry traces its roots to ancient India, where it formed part of Hindu astrology (Samudrika Shastra). It spread to China, Tibet, Persia and Greece, where Aristotle and later Hippocrates wrote about the hand. During the Renaissance it became a popular parlour art across Europe, and in the 19th century figures like Cheiro brought it to wide public attention.
